Bodybuilding Contest Preparation and Our Mind
November 19, 2011 by admin · Leave a Comment
No matter what is is in life, our minds will play a major role in determining our success. Most of life is all mental and how we perceive it. The same goes for bodybuilding and contest preparation. During my preparation for Musclemania in Miami in 2010, along with the training I knew that spending time visualizing how I wanted my body to look.Visualizing the training, and then posing routine was all rehearsed in my mind long before the actual show.
Actually how my body looked at the show was not quite as good as I envisioned. I lost too much weight however that is for another blog post.
I was in better condition and had more muscle two to three weeks out from the show in my estimation and looking back at the photos. At that time I a had strong vision in my mind how I wanted my body to look and perform.
The training that goes into a competition is just one aspect of the total package that you need to grasp when preparing to enter a show. Its our mind that will determine our success or failures not only in the competition but in life in general.
Reading and studying the power that you possess with your subconscious mind I feel is a prerequisite if you want to achieve the success your are striving for.
Whether you are working out yourself for a show or hiring a personal trainer to help you compete you want to spend some down time each day envisioning your body and how you want to look and perform. If your trainer that you are more than likely paying good money too is not getting you involved in the power that you possess between your ears and working on daily visualization techniques with you, than I suggest you find another professional to work with.
What you visualize constantly your body will bring about. I visualized daily not only my workouts prior to getting to the gym but, as soon as I nailed down the music I was going to pose to, I began to rehearse daily my posing routine in my mind. Your body cannot tell the difference between what you are visualizing or whether you are actually physically performing.
You are programming your nervous system to perform the exact way you have envisioned in your mind how you are completing the task. That is why you want to dwell only on the results you want and not on what you do not want.
I suggest you pick up a book titled The Power of Your Subconscious Mind By Joseph Murphy and read it cover to cover.
You will find a wealth of information that will help you get the results you want from your training and assist you in nailing down your routine when you hit the stage.

For many the term visualization is something we let pass over our heads when we are trying to obtain success in some area of our lives. In reality, we all visualize in some form or other. Whether it is day dreaming about going on vacation or, someone we admire, we all have been there at one time. That is what makes our minds so significant in our present and future success.
In the world of bodybuilding or fitness, the pros know how to visualize and concentrate on getting the results they are after to get them at the top of their game. In getting your muscles and body to respond, you not only have to put the work and time in at the gym but, to separate yourself from the rest of the field you want to incorporate visualization.
Taking the time to find a relaxed spot and than spending 5-10 minutes closing your eyes and seeing your body as the finished product you are wanting to obtain will get you one step closer to realization.
You first need to see it in your minds eye before you see the physical equivalent. All inventions that the world has seen for the most part were seen in the inventors minds eye before they finally came to pass.
If you want to build more muscle first see that muscle on your body. You want to lose weight, first see what your body will look like with the pounds ripped off your frame.
Believe you can obtain it and you will!
Don’t let me fool you though it is not easy. Like anything good it takes work. Practice, practice, practice.
There are numerous articles 0n the world wide web and books that cover the science of visualization and how to incorporate it into your life.
I strongly recommend you look into this area if you are serious about changing your body or your life for the better.
Drop me a comment let me know what your experiences are with visualization or how to proceed with it for faster and lasting fitness results.
